 Outlook won't send email when you click send or send/receive

The server has NT4.0 SP6a with Exch5.5. The clients are running
Office2000(Outlook2000) and Outlook 98 on NT4.0 Wkstn and Win98
workstations. When the send or send/receive is clicked on the outgoing email
hangs, but the mail goes out if the another folder in outlook ie claendar is
selected or outlook is closed.  Any ideas?
