 Stop checking my POP3 account

Hi!

I've set up a couple of accounts to check my POP3 mail from my work
location.  They work fine, but I don't seem to be able to "turn them off".
I'd like to have the option of checking (one in particular), but I don't
want it to be checked automatically every time the server does a mail check.
Is there a way to make this happen?  I have unchecked the option to check
this particular mail server for mail, but that seems to have no effect.
There doesn't seem to be anything I can do short of deleting this account
completely.

Help?

Thanks,

Tom

What version of Outlook are you using? If 98 or 2000, what mode? Check the
second line here for your mode: Help menu > About

Vince:

Outlook2000, Corporate or Workgroup config.

As I said, I have no trouble checking external email accounts. I CAN'T turn
them off!!!

Shouldn't I be able to do this without deleting the account?

Hmmm, what's checked here: Tools menu > Options > Internet Mail tab

 Stop checking my POP3 account
Vince:

Under Tools, Options, Internet E-Mail, the only two options chosen are:

MIME, encode text using "None", and

"Check my local network connection(s) for new mail every 10 minutes."

FWIW, there is no "Internet Mail" tab, so I'm assuming this was the tab you
were referring to.  There is no mention of particular accounts to check.

On another tab (Mail Services), there is an option for "Startup settings",
which is enabled to "Always use this profile", and a Mail options dialog
box.  In this dialog box, the option for ONE of my external accounts is
checked, along with the Microsoft Exchange Server box.  Under the Microsoft
Exchange Server account, in Properties, I have selected "Process marked
items" under Remote Mail.

Any ideas where else I can look?
