WinFax StarterEd V1.0 doesn't send attachment files

 WinFax StarterEd V1.0 doesn't send attachment files

My Hardware:
==========
ELSA MicroLink basic 56K Modem (Fax classes 1, 2 and 2.0 possible; olfsetup sets it to Class 1)

My Software:
==========
Win 98 2nd Ed. / Outlook 98 with Win Fax Starter Ed. V1.0 (set to "only via Internet") / Word 97

My approach to send a fax:
==========
I create a FAX message within Outlook 98 write some lines and insert the files I want to transmit as an attachment (Word 97 doc, containing a jpg file with my signature). After pressing "send", the files are rendered for transmission, the FAX number is dialled and I am told that the fax transmission is "offered", then "sent".

Problem:
==========
- After a few seconds, transmission status returns to "offer"; nothing else happens. The cover page has been transmitted, but not the attachments.
- Printing from Word directly to "Fax printer driver" gives me the same result.
- FAXing directly from Outlook98 without any attachments works fine.

Questions:
==========
- Does WinFax starter edition support sending attachments at all?
- if no: how else can I fax *.docs and *.jpgs?

Thanking you very much in advance,

Axel Fetzer

Sending any document with formatting as an attachment with WinFax SE will be
problematic. You'll get better results if you use the Print to WinFax SE
command, since that will use the Print To: function of the originating app
for some of the rendering. Whether it works or not will depend on the
originating app for the document. Word documents have always worked for me
using the Print To: command with WinFax SE.

Is there anyway to fax attachments using VBA?

 WinFax StarterEd V1.0 doesn't send attachment files

How about then if I had a text based attachment (html file) and
converted the html doc into the body of a new email/fax item.  This
could work but I presume formatting and display would not be preserved.

Are there any Fax apps where the object is exposed and you can use VBA?

Thanks!

MS Fax can be used that way but you can't run in Internet only mode
and use MS Fax. It is also no longer supported by MS and won't work on
Windows ME or Windows 2000.

WinFax Pro has an exposed object model, but it is either going to be
sold or discontinued by Symantec. Not sure about any of the other fax
software out there.
