Reinstalling Outlook, 'should' not remove the data files.
I'd be safe and backup the *.PST file (inbox, calendar,
tasks, etc) and look for a *.PAB. If the user uses a
Personal Address Book, it will be in a *.PAB file. See one
of the following articles for details on backing up
Outlook data:

Q181014 OL98 in Corporate/Workgroup mode
Q184817 OL98 in Iternet Mail only mode
Q195719 OL2000 in Corportate/Workgroup
Q196492 OL2000 in Interent Mail only mode
Type MSKB Qnnnnnn in the address bar of IE to retrieve the
article, where nnnnnn is the article number.
