corrupt .pst file and scanpst.exe isn't working

Any other ideas?  One of our employees has a 1.97 GIG .pst file which
locked up on him (I assume because of the size, which we will
address), scanpst.exe gets to the start of step 7 of 8 and then quits,
indicating there has been a problem with the scan and that no changes
have been made.

I also cannot create a new .pst file and import from the bad one, it
will not even open it, says there are errors that must be corrected by
scanpst.exe first.

I know there is a MS tool that will import the .pst into access, but
it seems that is only for access 97/98, not the 2000 office suite.

Anyone have any other ideas or programs that will repair and/or import
this so I can maybe re-export it to a new .pst file?

Erik

There is a great utility which helped me restoring a
corrupt pst file completely. You can find it
www.officerecovery.com and works fine. in the demo version
you will get the word demo in the "subject" and "from" but
the licensed version does a complete recovery
