MCI Error: There is no driver installed on your system

Using PowerPoint 2000 (Office Professional SR-1 + SR-2
update) on our Windows 2000 SP3 machines, an inserted
Media clip (.avi) will not play within the presentation.
It works fine on my home system, running Office Premium,
but none of our work systems are able to display the media
clip.

I've checked the win.ini and system.ini per a somewhat
related article, but can't seem to get this to work
correctly.  I have no idea how to fix it at this point,
has anyone else seen this behavior?

Windows 2000 doesn't use the win.ini and system.ini files for the multimedia
settings.  They are all in the Registry and I don't have a handle on what
they should be or where they are.  However, most likely you are missing a
codec.  Have you installed Windows Media Player 8.0?  It will install some
codecs and you might get lucky.  The other question would be, do you have
Real Player or Quick Time installed on the work machines?
