Inserted Pictures are not showing up in slide show

I work at a school and alot of the kids are doing powerpoint presentations as
a final project.

we've had problems with movies not playing or playing in preview but never
playing in the slide show.
or it would work on one station and not the other when the other has
everything installed.. all the patches all the codecs, lastest media player!!
directX 6.1
everything!!!!

and now. when they insert pictures it doesnt show up!
or they get 3 pictures of a guy swinging a golf club.
first two comes up in the slide show but the last one doesnt show up.
but they all show up in preview.
what gives?

anyone can help me out?
I'm running Office97 with SR2
Windows OSR2

Not sure how much help I can be, but I can think of a couple of things. First
thought is system resources, especially since pictures and movies are showing up
in preview but not in the slide show view. What kind of processors and RAM you
got on those boxes?

Other thought is that you maybe need to turn off "allow fast saves" in
Tools/Options. I know, I know, you're not getting the RedX, and SR2 was supposed
to fix this, but hey, never hurts to check! <g> And it sure won't hurt!

The final thing is, when you move the presentations to the other machines, are
you taking the movies along, too? If not, you need to, and you may need to reset
the links when you get them to the machine you're playing them on. PPT will look
for the original path to the movie. Probably the easiest thing is to put them all
in the same folder as the presentation and move the entire folder to the
presenting machine. The same thing could be happening with pictures if the kids
are linking them rather than embedding them.

Food for thought. Maybe this will spark some others to jump in.

We had a similar problem at my office when we tried to move to NT - we had
several computers using NT and the rest of us using Windows 95.  Those of us
using W95 couldn't see some of the clipart created/inserted on a
presentation created using NT.  Our final solution was to get rid of the
NTs.  Doesn't help you much I know . . .

Are all the computers using the same operating system?
