Converting Raw scores to percentages

Hey there,

I have a spreadsheet full of raw scores and I want to
convert them to percentages. for example, each homework
assignment is worth 5 points. I have a row of raw scores
such as 5, 3, 4, 5. I want to convert these raw scores to
percentages (100, 60, 80, 100, respectively), but I want
the percentages to appear in the same cell. That is, i
want the raw scores replaced with the percentages...any
way to do this?

Thanks,

Converting Raw scores to percentages

An easy way is to format the cells as %.  Then multiply them by .2 (edit -
paste special - values - multipy ).  This will work for all the scores that are
based on a max of 5.  The multiplier will be different if the max score is
different.  It may make more sense to leave the raw scores in place, and put a
formula in another area that does the calculation, but it may not.

Good luck.

Type 100 in an empty cell.
Edit|copy (that cell)
Select your range to convert to percentages

Edit|Paste special|check divide under operation
format as percentage

clean up that 100 cell.

Converting Raw scores to percentages

- Enter the number 5 in a blank cell and select that cell
- From the toolbar "Edit>Copy"
- Select the entire range of scores
- From the toolbar "Edit>Copy>PasteSpecial" - In the "Paste box" select
"Values" and in the "Operations" box select "Divide". Ok back to the
worksheet
- Format the range with a percentage

Converting Raw scores to percentages
<<Type 100 in an empty cell>>
And then lock the doors to avoid a number of unhappy parents trying to knock
your door down due to the very low percentages awarded to their children!

Converting Raw scores to percentages

One method....if your raw scores examples are representative....

Enter 20 in an unused cell....format it to percent......copy it to
clipboard.....select your range of raw scores and paste special>multiply>OK.

Clear the 20 and its format when you're done.
