Word 2000 insert symbol - mathematical symbols
I have a PC with Windows 98 second edition, with German Office Professional 2000 including Word 2000 SR1 plus SP2. I needed to insert into some text a special mathematical charactor called "Diameter" but was unable to find this from the Symbols window. The Symbols window does have some mathematical symbols but many seem to be not there. Is it possible to obtain from Microsoft such additional mathematical symbols perhaps as a software update, or are such symbols available in Word 2000 and I have just failed to find them, in which case how do I find such symbols?
Best regards, Gabriele Hauschild.

Have you tried Word's Equation Editor? What does the diameter symbol look like? -- Suzanne S. Barnhill Microsoft Word MVP Words into Type Fairhope, AL USA

Hi Gabriele The symbol I would normally use for diameter is a circle with a diagonal line through it. Is this the same symbol as you use ? You can type it by pressing alt+0216. It is there in the insert>symbol menu under the Latin-1 subset of normal text Quote:

Hallo Gabriele, Using the "Insert|Symbol"-dialog, the diameter is found in the subset "Mathematical Operators" in big unicode fonts like Arial Unicode MS or Lucida Sans Unicode (Code hex 2205 = dec 8709). You can also find this symbol in the "Symbol"-font (Alt-0198), but I wouldn't use this font any more (since it doesn't conform to the unicode standard). Alt-0216 gives you the O-slash, a letter used in Norway and Denmark. Gruesse, Klaus Quote:
