vertical line on left side of document

I rec'vd a document and on the pages is a verical line
some are short (if the paragraph is short) and some are
long. It seems that the line is the length of the paragraph
At first I thought it was a one sided border but no
Then I thought that it was a line that was drawn but no
When I click on the line I get a double arrow (to move the
line from one side to another . I thought it was a table
but no.  I don't know what else to look for and I don't
want the line there.

Any suggestions.

vertical line on left side of document
Could this be a change bar ("changed line") left from Track Changes?
