ADO vs DAO

 ADO vs DAO

Greetings...

I have an Excel VBA application that uses DAO and ODBCDirect for all its
data access to a SQL Server 7 database. Every query uses a stored
procedure. I'm investigating the possibility of changing over to ADO. In
general, I was curious to know if I'll see any significant gains in
performance using ADO, either in query time of placement of data to
spreadsheets. I'll soon be setting up some test queries to get my own
timings but I would like to know in general if ADO is preferable to DAO
in an Excel VBA environment?

 ADO vs DAO
I'm involved in a project now where we are using ADO exclusively with our
workbook. Both for data lookup and writing back to SQL 7. This is new so I
have no comparison with ODBC. I recommend either of these Apress books for
good ADO background as you replumb.

Rob Macdonald - Serious ADO: Universal Data Access with VB
Bill Vaughn - ADO Examples and Best Practices

If I had to choose just one for this scenario, I'd take the first one.
