DAO & Excel 97/Visual Basic problem

Hello, I have a question regarding DAO and VisualBasic for
Applications/Excel 97.
When I try to use any of the database classes (DBEngine, Database,
Connection, etc)
under Excel 97, I get the following error message:

"Error 429: ActiveX component can't create object"

I even tried with the following code:

    Set x = CreateObject( "DAO.DbEngine.35" )

or

    Set x = CreateObject( "DAO.DbEngine" )    (for DAO 3.0)

Both of them get the same error (429) as when I try to access the generic
DbEngine object.

If I use the SAME code under Access 97, it works alright.

I'm running Windows 95 OSR 2, and Office 97 Professional, Spanish versions.

Thanks in advance,
     Andres Coratella

PS: DAO 3.5 is currently installed. I even installed DAO SDK from Visual C++
5.0
Professional.
