Myself and several colleagues have recently completed programming a "beta
version" of an Excel workbook using VBA. The purpose of the "OceanExplorer"
workbook is to allow grade 7-12 students to visualize oceanographic data
from the Bermuda Atlantic Time Series (or BATS), a long-term ocean
monitoring program. The development of this workbook took place at the
Bermuda Biological Station (a non-profit marine research institution) and
was funded by the National Science Foundation as part of the "Classroom
BATS" project.
The reason for this message is to encourage anyone who might have the time
and interest to download the workbook from the Classroom BATS web site so as
to provide feedback about its features and suggestions for improvements. An
area of particular concern is the slowness with which Excel's autofilter
buttons filter the data. Depending on the speed of the machine that we have
used this on, filtering from near the end of the BATS or HydroStation S
datasets can take up to 15 minutes. Does anyone know of a way to speed this
up?
You can access the workbook by clicking the OceanExplorer link at

Thanks in advance for any help.
Cheers, Dave
