I have Word 97 and need a dictionary/thesaurus in German.  Is this something
I can download from somewhere or purchase?

Any help would greatly be appreciated.

You can use dictionaries of other languages or special terms for example,
medical and legal dictionaries to check spelling. For information about
purchasing such supplemental dictionaries, contact Alki Software Corporation
or your local Microsoft subsidiary. To contact Alki Software Corporation,
call (800) 669-9673 if you live in the United States; if you live outside
the United States, call (206) 286-2600.
Before you can use a supplemental dictionary to check spelling, you must
install and activate it.

1.  If you haven't already done so, install the appropriate supplemental
dictionary.
2.  On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Spelling & Grammar
tab.

3.  In the Speller type box, click Normal to activate a dictionary of
another language, or click the name of any other supplemental dictionary you
want to activate. (Note that the Speller type box doesn't appear unless
you've installed a supplemental dictionary.)

The next time you check spelling, Word will use the active supplemental
dictionary.

Note:   If you're using a dictionary of another language, you also need to
specify which part of the document contains text in that language.
