Word97 Document suddenly displayed boxes instead of characters

Hi James,
My guess is, some special font in which parts of the document are
formatted, suddenly crashed. Or, something happened to the printer
driver.
Try this: open the document, select a string of boxes and apply a
different FONT on it (don't use Styles, just yet). If the text now
becomes readable, you can delve into the style that was used.
