 Mail Merge Greeting Line

We have a user attempting to do a mail merge in Word 2002
with SP1 installed.  She sets the greeting line to
say "Dear Mr. Randall", but it merges with the full name,
i.e. "Dear Mr. John Smith" instead of Dear Mr. Smith:  Any
suggestions?  Thank you.

Does she have "John" and "Smith" in separate fields?

Yes, she did put the names in separate fields.

In that case she should check the main document to make sure that only the
LastName field is included in the salutation.

Hi Peggy,

These new fields have some problems... Definitely. There are
combinations of settings in th edialog box that result in
incorrect results. I can't remember an example - been a while
since I bothered to look at it.

In short: if it's misbehaving with the options she has to
use, she won't be able to use it. She'll have to go back to
the "old fashioned" method.
