 3D scatter plot (XYZ graph)

I'm using MS Excel v5.0c for Windows 3.1.  I was working with XY Scatter
plots and wanted to add a third dimension, but found that Excel doesn't
have the capability to SCALE a 3D graph?

Are there any add-ins that give Excel this capability.  Are there any
shareware packages that will graph 3D scale graphs?  What packages would
you recommend for 3D graphs?

Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks.

I am not sure if there is a Win 3.1 version but I have found Harvard
ChartXL from SPC to be a good companion to Excel charting in '95 and '97.

If you have 3 numbers then by definition it forms a plane, based upon
geometry.
I wonder if you really want to know the orientation of the plane. You can
go to
analytic geometry to get the equation for the plane, and from that get the
normal etc
and figure out everything you want. I suspect if you have a lot of triples
you could
program excel to do this for each triple of points.

really is a list of three numbers that I would like to see in 3D to see
if it forms a plane.

I personally think Surfer for Windows from Golden Software does the best
3D plot.  Neat, fast, small in file size.

I posted a similar message recently and received a helpful response.
Unfortunately, there do not seem to be inexpensive alternatives.  SigmaPlot
from Jandel (now part of SPSS) works well but carries a $500 price tag.
