Closing 1 workbook closes all workbooks

Closing 1 workbook closes all workbooks

When I have multiple workbooks open and I close one using
the X I am prompted to save changes and all workbooks are
closed.  This is different behavior than Word 2002 and
PowerPoint 2002, when you close a Word document the rest
of your documents stay open, same with PowerPoint.  Is
there a setting I am missing or is this feature by design
for Excel?

Sorry if it is a simple question, but are you sure you are not clicking on
the X for the application instead of the workbook?

Polite Request - It is very very much appreciated in
text-only groups if you do not attach files - Thanks

Closing 1 workbook closes all workbooks
Yes, but if you do the same in Word or PowerPoint it only
closes that particular document or presentation not the
other documents or presentations that are open.

Closing 1 workbook closes all workbooks
Only if you have seperate instances of Word and Powerpoint open.   If you have
multiple documents open under the same instance of the application, all will
close if you hit the close application shortcut.
