values I input into Excel automatically go to a decimal value

Bill #1 / 3	values I input into Excel automatically go to a decimal value I opended EXCEL XP version, which I have been using for over a year, and started putting some values into a spreadsheet. Every value I entered would go to a decimal, for example, I entered 4 and it became .0004 I ran a virus scan and found nothing, I also turned my PC on/off and had the same problem. Has anyone seen this before? Bill T.
