Excel 200 Macro Error (PERSONAL.XLS already open)
I suspect you have two personal.xls files - one left over from Excel 97 and
one created in Excel 2000 (I believe Excel 2000 puts its personal.xls in a
different location from Excel 97).
If you have custom button on your toolbars that use macros in the
personal.xls, they probably refer to the old one - and when excel 2000
starts, it has already loaded the newer one. You should go through your
buttons and redirect them to the new personal.xls and move your macros
there.
Just a possible scenario.
xl 2000 stores it in the C:\Windows\Profiles\Username\Application
Data\Microsoft\Excel\xlStart hierarchy.
xl97 used the C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\xlStart directory
Either of the above is probably not exact and would certainly need to be
modified to reflect your actual installation, but are illustative of where
to look.
