 Adding non-consecutive cells in EXCEL

How do I add non-consecutive cells in EXCEL. I know I can
HI-LITE the cells I need by using the mouse and the
control key, but I do not know how to add these cells once
I have them selected.

Thanks,

 Adding non-consecutive cells in EXCEL
Wrap them with sum, i.e.

=sum(a1,a3,a6)

so start by putting =sum( and then hold down ctrl and select the cells and finish
by pressing enter and excel will add the closing parenthesis, if you start by putting
= in a cell and then ctrl and the cells, then you have to press F2, home, right arrow key,
type sum( and press enter.
