how to insert symbols in Excel ??

Thank you for your reply. However, I follow exactly what you tell me to
do and I get "?" instead of an "ohm" sign. Before I select Symbol as
the font of the cell, I get "a square" instead of "W". Is that why I
get "?" now? Thank you again.
PS. I am using win95 and office 97
