 Merge two text cells without losing data

You can use concatenation - for example:

Cell A1 = scott

You enter in cell A3:  =(A1&A2) and this will result in

How about copying all the cells and using paste special -
value.

 Merge two text cells without losing data
Don't want to beat a dead horse since you said you got it,
but if you want a Worksheet hyperlink knowing that a couple
of dozen object hyperlinks could mess you up, you could
use the following.    (Excel 97 and up)

    =HYPERLINK("mailto:" & A1 & B1, A1)
or
    =HYPERLINK("mailto:" & A1 & B1, A1 & B1)
