next record button creating new records

Hi,

When the current record is also the last record of the
database, clicking on the "Next Record" button using the
navigation buttons produces a new record.

Similarly, after performing the "filter by form" command,
when the current record is the last record of the filtered
set, clicking on the "Next Record" button gives me a new
record.

How can I turn this feature off and/or make it cycle back
to the first record?

Thanks,
Frances

Hi Frances,

Set the form to Allow Additions = No

Even the way it is now if nothing is added to the new record then
nothing is changed.

next record button creating new records
Hi,

Jim, thank you for your response.  I made the change in
design mode, setting the form to Allow Additions = No in
the Data tab.  When I switched back to Form view, my form
was gone, no text boxes, labels, and so on.  The navigation
buttons were all greyed out.  The only thing visible was
the form header.  In datasheet view, everything was greyed
out.  When I set Allow Additions back to "Yes" my form came
back, fully functional.

If my procedure is in error or if another field needs to be
concurrently set, please let me know.

Also, if you or anybody else has any suggestions, please
reply.

I should also add that I'm using Access 2000.

Thanks,
Frances

Need to disable this feature:

When the current record is the last record of the
database, clicking on the "Next Record" navigation button
produces a new record.  If there is no "next" record,
Access creates a new record.

Similarly, after performing the "filter by form" command,
the database presents a "found set."  When the current
record is the last record of the filtered
set, clicking on the "Next Record" navigation button
creates a new record.

What I would like:

Turn this feature off and/or make it cycle back to the
first record.

Disabling this feature will minimize my users' confusion
and reduce the number of empty records in this database.
