Getting illegal operation error msg when opening all forms

Re: MSccess 97 (I need this version on this machine
because of clients that still use it.)

What the heck!  Where do I look to solve this problem?
It doesn't matter what form I open (my own forms or
Northwind samples) I get the illegal operation error msg
each time!  I used the repair function on the MS Office
CD.  I uninstalled MS Access, rebooted then reinstalled MS
Access.  I can't get rid of this problem.  What do I do?
The details of the error, when trying to open the form, is
always "MS Access caused an invalid page fault in module
MSAccess.exe.  That's why I unistalled it and reinstalled
it.  I even updated the MDAC and Jet 4.  Still no go.

I just tried out the reccomended steps in the Microsoft
Knowledge base article Q148424.  Still no luck.  I went to
another computer on my network and imported my database
into Access 2000.  It works fine.???  Any ideas??

Jet 4?  Were you using Jet 4 to start with, or only in desperation?  I
could be wrong, but I don't think you can use Jet 4 with Access 97.

The only time I've ever use Jet 4 is when I work with
ADO/ASP (Visual Interdev).  That's on a seperate Windows
2000 Server PC.  Yes! In this case it was just in
desperation.  But after installing the Jet 4 service pack
I no longer got the "Dbase driver missing" error and I
could then use the Office 97 CD for Reinstalling again.
The reinstalling, however, didn't solve the problem.

That's the first you've mentioned a "Dbase driver missing" error.
Obviously I don't know the history of your installation, but you might
try the following:

    1. Delete, reinstall, and reregister (via regsvr32) DAO350.DLL.

    2. If that doesn't work, uninstall Office 97, then delete
DAO350.DLL, then reinstall Office 97.

    3. If that doesn't work, try following the directions on this page
for uninstalling Office, then running the Eraser97 utility, and then
reinstalling:

Note that Eraser97 won't run on operating systems later than Windows
2000.

The #2 option below helped me clear up the problem.  Thank

I'm really glad to hear that.  This sort of problem can be such a pain
to fix!
