Can't close using X in top right hand corner

Ok, I know this isn't a major problem, but we have a user that used to be able to
close out of Excel by clicking on the X in the upper right hand corner, and now
the X is "grayed out", so he has to go to File, Exit to get out of Excel.  We've
tried reinstalling Excel, thinking maybe a file got corrupted or something, but
that didn't help.  Has anyone ever seen this before, and do you know of a quick
fix?  Like I said, it's not a big deal, but he keeps asking me if I found a
solution to his problem yet.

Thanks!

Possibly the registry settings. I'd recommend (Start>Run) running the command line
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\Office\Excel.exe/regserver

I've never seen this problem, but if you try Jimmy's suggestion, put a space
between:

....\excel.exe        /regserver

(typo)

I had the same problem with Excel 2K. It has something to do with GroupWise
integration. Here's what you can do to fix it:

Search for GWXL97.xla and delete it.
Search for *.XLB files and delete them.

restart Excel

Hope that helps!

You may want to be careful with the .xlb stuff.  You could be deleting your
customized toolbars.
