 OE5 drag and drop problem

Today my Outlook Express decided it would stop allowing me to drag
email messages from inbox pane into any folders in the folder pane.

This is very strange. I can now only move messages by using the "Move
To.." command from the Message menu or the contextual menu.

I did install QuickTime 5 today, but I don't see how installing
QuickTime would affect drag and drop. I removed the QT extensions and
restarted, but I still can't drag the email files into the folders.

I had a similar problem trying to use Transmit today. Dragging an icon
from the desktop into the Transmit window would not work to start an
FTP upload. Before today I've never had problems dragging files...

My system is an iMac 333 with MacOS 8.6. Not too many 3rd party
extensions, and the system is very stable (besides today's problem).

Anyone have any idea how I can fix this?

Have you, by any chance, installed the latest version of CarbonLib?  If
so, visit MacFixit to revies the corrective actions.
