I have made some customization changes to Normal.dot.  The
customizations are largely in styles, toolbars, etc.  For
example, I've created a shortcut key that applies the Body
Text style (Ctrl+Shift+B)

Question:  How do I get documents that were created and
based on the old normal.dot to have the customizations in
the new normal.dot applied to them?  I'm running Word 97.  
I've looked at Tools/Templates and Add-ins and the Format
Style Gallery.  I did get the results I was looking for by
inserting my file into a new document, but I'd rather not
have to do this for all my documents.  

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Your toolbars and shortcut keys that are saved in Normal.dot should be
available to ALL documents (not just those based on Normal.dot). To make the
styles available, you need to reattach the template with the "Automatically
update document styles" box checked (in Tools | Templates and Add-ins).
