MS Office version for OE Mac spell check?

MS Office version for OE Mac spell check?

I am running OE 5.02 along with an old version of MS Word (6.0) and OE's
spell checking is not available.  Some of the OE documentation indicates
that you just need to have MS Office installed to make spell checking
available, and some indicates that you need MS Office 98.  Anyone know if MS
Office 97 will work for this purpose and if all you need is the dictionary?

Thanks.

MS Office 97 is *PC* so won't help you on a Mac. Even under PC-emulation,
it's not shared in that sense. Office 4.21 and Office 98 are quite different
and while I don't recall spellers, it is entirely possible the old one will
not work. Try one application (from O98) with the speller over having the
whole MSOffice installed that is required.

It's highly unlikely you can connect a PC and use it's Office 97 spelling
dictionary :)

I think it's in the other OE group I've been saying similar things: I run
Office 2001 and my dictionary DOES WORK. Only problem, it has its own (OE in
an Outlook Express folder unrelated to the Office 2001 dictionary (both
custom.dic --> user and US English (not modifiable)

Well, my speller situation is solved.

1) there were 2 dictionaries: Outlook Proofing Tools & Proofing Tools
folders both had one.
2) Open MSWord | Preferences | Spelling | Dictionaries. There's an option to
edit the dictionary. I opened both, merged them, trashed one and kept the
other. All done.
