We recently purchased MS Office 97 (English) version, but were
dismayed to find that it does not do a spelling check in French for
documents written in French.  Canada, being a bi-lingual country,
requires that businesses provide documents in both official languages
(English & French).  How come there is no French dictionary in MS
Office 97.

Before anyone tells me that I have to set the spell checker to the
French Canadian language option, I have already done that and the
program does not catch deliberately typed errors.  Am I doing
something wrong or is this a known flaw in Office 97?

Are the dictionary files hidden somewhere on the Office 97 CD and not
installed by default?

Someone please help....

I had the same problem in Belgium and had to buy the Microsoft CD "Outils de
vrification linguistique Fran?ais".
I don't remember exactly the price but it was a real shame when compared to
Office 97 update's cost.
A real inducement to piracy.
I hope they are more reasonable in Canada.
