 Illegal Operation msg on Legal Ms Office product(he he he)

Hi Ms Office gurus out there if there is any,

I'm using MS Office 97 in my Windows 95 (b version) PC. I have been
using it fer 2 years.
Recently I have this problem whenever I open any MS Office
applications(refer to error msg below).
I have not installed any new software or hardware drivers on my PC. So
it couldn't be a case of file
conflict or who knows what. I have tried reducing the graphic hardware
acceleration to BASIC which
is Microsoft's recommendation if there is any unexpected error in
programs but to no avail.

Finally as a last resort, I removed the MS Office application and
Reinstall it. Same Thing!!! :( :( :(
By the way ,The Error Msg Goes(this holds true for all MS Office
applications):-

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.
