Sent mail not going to Sent Mail Folder

Hello all,

Just started using Outlook Express 6.  When I write an email message, it's
not copied to the local sent mail folder, despite the little box being
checked to copy sent messages to that folder.

I have 2 IMAP accounts, and use one of them as my default mailbox for
replies.  Is this the problem?  If so, is there a way to copy all sent
messages to a folder with this setup?  (i.e., for anyone who has used
Eudora, a filter for "all outgoing messages copy to <sent mail>"?  I realize
you can't setup Message Rules for IMAP accounts, but seems there must be a
way to do this.

Thanks,
Jim

It could be that either your sent items folder is corrupted. Go to Tools, Options, Maintenance and confirm that the option to Compact messages in the background is not checked. Checking this option is known to lead to Folder corruption and poor system performance. You should be using File, Folder, Compact All to compact Outlook Express folders.

Create an ArchiveSentItems folder by placing the cursor on Local Folders in the Folder List and select File, Folder, New. Move or copy the contents of your Sent Items folder to your new folder. Enter Windows Explorer, locate and delete your Sent Items folder. Send an email to yourself and see if it appears in your Sent Items folder.

If you can't remove or copy messages from your existing Sent Items folder try DBXtract on your Sent Items folder

Hopefully these suggestions will resolve your problem but whichever way things turn out please let the group know what happens.

Hope this helps.

Sent mail not going to Sent Mail Folder
Gerry,

Unfortunately, your suggestion did not work.

I did have the "Compact messages in background" checked, so I unchecked that
& then deleted the old Sent Items folder (as there were no messages in it to
start wtih, no need to create a new folder, etc.).  Restarted Outlook
Express & attempted to send a message.  Still no copy placed into the Sent
Items folder.

Other ideas?

Thanks for trying to help!

Jim

Sent mail not going to Sent Mail Folder
OOPS!  I spoke too soon.  I didn't realize that I was checking the "Local
Folders" Sent Items folder when, in fact, the messages were being copied to
the IMAP Sent Items folder.  I'm all squared away.  Thanks!
